How does the ConquerMaths program work?

View the Tutorial

Each of the 1,200+ tutorials last around 4-9 minutes and present the concepts of the maths lesson step-by-step. Using synchronised audio and animation which harnesses both audio and visual learning styles simultaneously.

Completing the Interactive Questions or Worksheets

Following each maths tutorial there are interactive questions or an optional printable worksheet (with every lesson in KS3 onwards) which tests the understanding of key concepts. Answers are entered into the automated marking system which then stores the results in each individual student’s ongoing progress report.

View Worked Solutions (for Worksheet based tests)

After answers have been submitted, printable fully worked solutions become available showing every step which should be taken to reach the correct answer, just as it should be done in a maths exam. These can also be accessed directly by the parent.

Marking and Reports

Ongoing progress reports are built for each individual. This helps parents and students in identifying weaker areas requiring further study. Every maths lesson a student attempts is logged and the results stored along with statistical information detailing when they passed, what they scored and how much time and effort they put in to pass that lesson.

My child was using a family account but now he/she has a school account. What happens to the results my child accumulated in the family account? Can they be transferred to the school account?

Yes. Email us at info@conquermaths.com with the name and username of both accounts and we will transfer all results from the family account to the school account. If you require the results data to be transferred from the school we will need to contact the school to confirm that this is acceptable.

Can I ‘link’ school and family accounts?

No. A student is either part of a family account (administered by the parent) or a school account (administered by the teacher).

Do we have the freedom to review earlier grades?

Yes. With a ConquerMaths membership you have access to all grades and lessons. There are no restrictions allowing freedom to move back and forward.

How can I monitor my child's progress?

As a parent you can access detailed results at any time online. Most parents choose to receive the weekly progress report which is sent direct to your email every week. To do this, just login to the Parents’ Area, select your settings and check the ‘Weekly Reports’ option. There is also the facility within the Parents’ Area to view detailed reports at any time.

How do I unsubscribe from weekly reports and/or newsletters?

Login to the Parents’ Area, select your settings and uncheck the report or newsletter box.

How do I cancel my family account and stop further payments?

Send an email to info@conquermaths.com, stating your email address and we will stop further payments. Your payments will cease immediately, and your membership will expire at the conclusion of the last paid period. There are no cancellation fees except for early termination of the ‘Annual Paid in Monthly Instalments’ plan, please contact us at info@conquermaths.com if you require clarification or support.

How do you answer the worksheets?

For most worksheets the answers are in multiple-choice format. Multiple-choice worksheets have a set of questions and possible answers (A to Z). The answers are jumbled and there are extra, incorrect answers to avoid guessing.

Why make the worksheets multiple-choice? Why can’t you just type the answer in directly?

The symbols and notation used in maths quickly goes beyond what can be readily typed using a keyboard. Radical symbols, superscript and subscript characters, pi, theta, degrees, minutes and seconds… Although easily written by hand, it is difficult trying to enter such answers into a program.

For some lessons the student enters their final grade directly, rather than type the answers multiple-choice-style? Why is that?

The nature of some topics, especially in the higher end courses, do not lend themselves easily to multiple-choice-style answers. Sketching Graphs and Geometric Proofs are good examples of this. In these cases, once the worksheet is completed, the student views the detailed worked solutions, to their own understanding of the steps in solving the questions. Students use the solutions and marking to be able to grade themselves appropriately. Please note that the vast majority of lessons contain multiple-choice answers, and that the self-graded lessons are mainly found in the Algebra and Geometry course.

Does ConquerMaths run on iOS devices such as iPads and iPhones?

ConquerMaths has converted its content to run on all modern HTML5 platforms, including iOS devices such as iPads and iPhones, and Android devices.

How does ConquerMaths differ from other programs?

There are two major differences.

Firstly, there is a video tutorial for every Maths concept in the curriculum from Reception to Year 13. This means that the student is in complete control of the learning process and can learn at their own pace, in a safe and secure environment, by stopping, rewinding, or repeating the lesson at anytime

Secondly, ConquerMaths has no distractions. It is completely focused on the curriculum and what we want the students to learn.

How is a students’ progress assessed?

ConquerMaths fully assesses students’ understanding after each and every lesson with questions drawn randomly from a large bank of questions, which are then marked and recorded. There are also worksheets available for older students.

As the student works through each question they receive instant feedback as the correct answers are acknowledged as such and correct answers given if an incorrect response is made. For older students, worked solutions are provided.

Can the program accommodate students at different levels in a class?

Any student can be set work from any level, meaning that students can be set work which is appropriate to their current level, ensuring that differentiated teaching and learning can be implemented and managed very easily.

This also means that any gaps which a student has in their knowledge and understanding can be easily filled.

How easy is it to highlight and address gaps in a student’s prior knowledge, which might be holding them back?

There is a wide range of diagnostic tests for every concept, which determine where the shortfalls might be in a student’s knowledge.

Do I have to contact ConquerMaths to add new students?

Teachers are able to independently manage their classes, so students can be added and given immediate access, deleted and moved between groups and classes without any fuss. Schools who are at their student limit should contact info@conquermaths.com to arrange for the additional students to be added.

Parents who need to add students to their account should contact ConquerMaths at info@conquermaths.com regarding their current subscription level to arrange for a cancellation of the current subscription and the set up of a new one.

Are reports available?

A full range of reports available which include:

  • Individual lesson and topic summaries.
  • An analysis of all diagnostic tests
  • An analysis of prior knowledge on an individual student and class basis
  • Student activity by log in
  • Task reports on an individual and class basis
  • A summary of awards gained
Are there any awards available?

A range of certificates from Bronze to Platinum are awarded for a student’s performance in each topic. Students find this very motivational, especially when they can progress though the range of certificates as they gain mastery in a topic by attempting more questions.
